about

This band was formed around 3 years ago with the hearty suggestion of 'having a jam after a few pints' and shortly thereafter became a modest quest for world domination. We hope while listening to these songs that you can get a sense of the fun we have had while writing, practicing and performing them.

From the countless hours slaving over the odd '27/8' timings in the 'Schlopanitsa', to the debate deciding to include not one but two bass solos on the album (in the same track no less), and the fully written children's story to accompany 'Hare and the Fox' (complete with the totally appropriate battle to the death at the end), this album offers a glimpse into the experiences we've had making this music and the influences that are brought to the table at every opportunity. As all the music you will hear has been writing and/ or arranged by the whole band working together, we hope you can get a sense of our individual voices as well as the blatherskite we produce.

Blatherskites - Perhaps the name of a new, terrifying genre, where folk-influenced melody weaves seamlessly with irresistible groove from seemingly any musical spout? Perhaps a description of the band's anthropomorphised animal-obsessed saxophonist? In any case, an aptly descriptive name for the genre enveloping power-folk mash-up band known as, the Blatherskites. ... more
